Learn 365RI
In April 2023, Governor Dan McKee announced a new out-of-school learning initiative, Learn365RI, which is designed to shift learning from the traditional 180 school days to 365 days of learning by supporting partnerships between municipalities, local education agencies (LEAs) and community-based organizations (CBOs) to expand high-quality, extended learning experiences.
The Learn 365 Initiative, has made an astounding impact on our patrons, both academically and personally. Where once reluctant learners, confident, self- assured students have emerged. They have embraced the opportunities that are available to our patrons through the Learn 365 initiative. Students are required to complete all schoolwork before completing the Learn 365 IXL program. The structure of the FLC’s grant initiative has provided the groundwork for students to set goals, in and out of school, as well as achieving goals they previously thought were unattainable.
The implementation of the Learn 365 initiative has been nothing short of life changing for our patrons. Our middle school aged patrons are enthusiastic and often remark how much fun they are having while learning new skills. The Learn 365 initiative has provided our patrons positive reinforcement, accountability for their schoolwork and a sense of teamwork and community. It is our hope and aspiration that Gerson will not only continue with his success, but his story will be one of many from the Family Literacy Center, in collaboration with the Learn 365 Initiative.
Summer Reading is FUN at the FLC!
Students Entering grades Pre-K – 2: Children entering grades Pre-K through 2 must read (or be read to) 5 story books in July and 5 additional story books in August. These books can come from their school’s summer reading list.

Students Entering grades 3-5: Children entering grades 3 through 5 must read 2 chap-ter books in July and 2 chapter books in August. These books can come from their school’s summer reading list. Children should record the books they have read on the “Reading Tracking Form” and write why they did or did not enjoy the book.
Each time you visit the Family Literacy Center, bring the tracking form
journal and we will check their progress and give them their reading prize. When the all the picture journals/tracking forms are complete, we will collect them and register your child for an ice cream sundae celebration!

Students Entering grades 6-8: Children entering grades 6-8 (middle school) will find a vast array of books that will be appropriate for their age level. Not sure on a selection? Let us help!

Students Entering grades 9-12: In conjunction with Lincoln High School, the assigned grade level reading is available to be borrowed/renewed, free of charge. We retain a current list of all required reading as well as several copies of each book.
